Hanna Maria Thornton was born in 1867 in Eccleshill, Yorkshire, her parents were Ann Scott and Joseph Thornton. She married Edward Alexander Daire in 1892 in Bradford. She had eight children. She contracted Rheumatoid Arthritis at approx. 40 years of age, and was confined to a wheelchair for much of her later life. Her husband died in 1936. Hanna died in 1942 in Shipley, Yorkshire.
