Alice Emily Carwardine

Alice Emily Carwardine on her wedding dayAlice Emily Carwardine is reported to have been born in 1895 in Adelaide South Australia (though no record of her birth has been found as yet). Her parents were John Benjamin Carwardine & Annie Jane Gilbert.

In 1916, Alice was working as a shop assistant in the WA wheatbelt town of Dumbleyung, as was her sister Elizabeth. Her brother Alfred was living in Kukerin and working as a blacksmith.

Alice married Leo Joseph Reilly in 1923 in Perth, and they had three children: Patricia, Peg and Geoffrey Charles. Alice "Emily" and Leo and their children lived in Dumbleyung.

Emily Reilly was involved in the Dumbleyung Choral and Dramatic Society. In June 1927 she was part of the cast in ‘Valley Farms’ which was conducted in front of sell out local audiences.

Alice Emily died in 1964 in Albany. She is buried at Allambie Park Cemetery. Her gravestone reads:
