Details

John was born on the 19th February 1851 in Corio (Geelong), Victoria. His parents were William Gladman and Rhoda Hurst.

He married by Banns, Isabel Maldon Campbell on the 15th September, 1880 at St. Thomas's Church of England, Winchelsea. John was listed as a labourer on the wedding certificate.

Isabel Maldon Campbell was born on the 17th of May 1857, at Sea on the ship "Maldon", from which her middle name is derived. She was the only daughter of Robert Campbell and Johanna Turnbull, though Robert remarried after the death of Johanna and had another seven children.

Isabel's name is sometimes listed as Isabella. In one case it was first written as Isabella on the Marriage Certificate, then corrected with the final two letters crossed off. She is also listed as Isabella Mabel Maldon Campbell

In 1903, the Victorian Electorial Roll lists them as living in Milloo (which is near Bendigo). John was listed as a farmer, Isabel as home duties.

John died 30 January 1912 in Rochester, Victoria. Isabel died in 1942 in Mitcham, Victoria, and was buried in Mitiamo Cemetery.
